Ask around Get referrals from friends and Family.
If you don’t know anyone that can help you find a Photographer, then you may have to ask around.
Perhaps a friend of yours has been looking for a new Photographer and is willing to help you out. If you don’t know anyone, then perhaps you know someone that has a friend that is looking to hire a Photographer. Someone who is great behind the lens as well as easy on your Pocketbook.
You can try asking your Family and friends if they know anyone that is hiring a Photographer or if they know someone that might hire a Toronto Wedding Photographer soon. You may be surprised at how many people you know that can help you find that perfect Photographer.
It may be your Cousin who owns a Studio, your best friend who runs a Studio, or even an elderly Neighbor who is looking to hire an established Photographer. With a little effort, you may be able find a photographer that you know.
Check Online Reviews. Look for a Photographers with good reviews.
When you’re looking for a credible Photographer, the first place to look is posted Online reviews.
There are several Websites that allow you to leave reviews for Photographers.
Allowing other Customers to see what kind of service a Photographer provides. Find a few Photographers near you and see what their Reviews say. Look for Photographers with good Reviews who also have a few negative Reviews. While not all Wedding Photographers are going to have good reviews (it happens sometimes there is just a mismatch of personalities of people whom should never have worked together). But you want to make sure that the Photographers near you have good Reviews. If a lot of Photographers near you have bad reviews, then that may be a sign that there are a lot of bad photographers near you. Sad but true.
Research Photographers. Look for Photographers with experience and a good Portfolio.
Asking around and looking at a Photographer’s Online Reviews aren’t the only ways to find a good Photographer.
You may also want to dig a little deeper and see if you can find a Photographer with experience and a good Portfolio. Perhaps you can look through your City’s local Service Directory or City Websites and see if you can find a great Photographer.
Call up the Directory and ask if they have a list of all the Photographers in the City that you are planning to host your Wedding in. Some City directories may even have a list of Photographers that are looking to take on new Customers. Ask yourself if any of the good Photographers near you that have experience or are known for their work. With a little digging, you may be able to find a photographer with experience and a good portfolio.
Such Directories as Craigslist.com or the YellowPages.ca can be a terrific place to start. Just remember that there is no excuse for not doing a little bit of your own Homework to ensure you find the right fit.
Negotiate price. Don’t be afraid to negotiate the price of the Service or Wedding Photography Packages.
While it’s not common to negotiate prices, it’s something that you may want to try.
You may want to negotiate the Package costs down a few dollars or even see if the Photographer is willing to work for less than the agreed upon Package price. While most Photographers will not be willing to negotiate the price of their Services, some may be willing to work for a lower price.
There is nothing wrong with ‘reasonable’ negotiation. A little bit of give and take never killed anyone. It’s just those totally unreasonable people who think that a Professional in any discipline would work for next to nothing who are the problem. After all would you work for less then 90% of your asking price? Probably not. Photographers have their own bills to pay as well.

Ask for discounts. Check with Photographers for any discounts they may be offering.
Finally, one more way to find a cheap Photographer near you is to check Online Forums and Social media pages of Photographers near you.
Perhaps one of the Photographers near you has a Reddit or Facebook page where they frequently post. Check through these pages to see if any of the Photographers near those pages offer any discounts or free services. Some may offer free services, such as providing you with a free Consultation. While not all Photographers on these pages will offer discounts, it may be worth a shot to see if any of the local Photographers near you offer any discounts.
After all is you don’t ask you don’t know. And wouldn’t that be a shame if you could have saved yourself a couple of bucks in the long run!
